A New Moon Question for YouYou do not need the whole plan. Begin by noticing what is calling. Reader A few weeks ago, at the Summer Solstice, I wrote to you from Armenia, surrounded by mountains, fruit trees heavy with abundance, and the extraordinary light of the longest day of the year. It felt as though the whole landscape was celebrating life. Now I’m home. This morning, before the day began, I greeted the New Moon with a small fire in my backyard—a quiet way of meeting this new cycle with gratitude and presence. Today there is no brilliant light. I love that our relationship with the moon asks something different of us throughout the month. Sometimes we celebrate what is visible. Sometimes we are invited to sit with what has not yet taken shape. Lately, a question has been quietly following me around. It isn’t demanding an answer. It just keeps showing up. I’ve realized that I’m feeling a little tired of hearing about our responsibility as humans. Not responsibility itself, rather the way we often carry it. As though life were handing us one more thing to manage. One more expectation. One more weight. I know… I believe we’re here to love one another. To help one another. To live in connection and community. I really do. And still… I found myself wondering… What if responsibility isn’t about being responsible at all? What if it’s really about response-ability? The ability to choose our response. The thought arrived so unexpectedly that it made me stop. I'm not ready to tell you everything I'm discovering about those two words brought together. I'm not ready to tell you everything I'm discovering about those two words. I’m still sitting with them. Living with it. Seeing where it wants to lead me. Perhaps it’s simply another way of describing something I’ve been teaching—and practicing—for years. What I do know is this… Beneath all the doing, planning, striving, accomplishing, and taking care of everyone else, there is often something within us trying to get our attention. Not another obligation. Not another goal. Simply a gentle invitation. So today, on this New Moon, I find myself wondering… What, deep inside, is quietly asking for more of you? Not what you should be asking. (Thou shalt not should on thy self!) Not what someone else thinks you need. Simply… More truth. You don’t need the whole plan. You don’t even need an answer today. Simply notice what is calling. I’d love to be in conversation with you. Reply and tell me what bubbled up for you... the word or words. I’ll read every response. In fact, I look forward to it! We've been exploring with question in Sacred Circle this month, and I'm finding this rich, and full of heart. I'll share some of what we are discovering over the next few weeks.. I'm looking forward to continuing this conversation with you. Thank you for taking a few minutes to sit with me today. And thank you in advance for sending your whisper and calling. I truly look forward to reading it. with love~~ |
